Never going back to a manual water pistol!!It comes supplied with the requited battery which is easy to charge via USBYou then attach the batter inside the pistol and you're good to go.Filling up the water reservoir is straight forward, smaller kids may need helpDoes indeed shoot a good distance and the water lasts a minute or so for fun usage.

great little water gun

perfect water pistol for the kids, it's light weight and easy to use, doesn't hold a big amount of water so it will need refilling frequently, but it's well made and the battery lasts about 40 minuets of continuous use.
